about

In this lecture, I can summarize that Franz Liszt, realizing that this "Don Giovanni" opera (or "Don Juan" in Spanish, so that keenly means "Don Giovanni" is the Italian version of the aforementioned two names), that was composed by Mozart, and libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, this was an opera that no one can turn back to.

This is a story of a womanizer with predation-packed cavalier attitudes, who may have escapading ties with over 1,000 or so lovers, but pays the price with a send-off to his hellish death after meeting up with the Commandant--or the "stone guest", who warns the Don to repent for his malicious deeds, which he refused, and led to the Don's doom. It was said that in the story, the stone guest--who was actually the character Ulloa (the "Commandant" himself), whom the Don kills off in a duel at the opening of the opera, comes back later as a supernatural ghost with the quest to wreak revenge to the death, on this sinful nobleman. just before the opera ends.

The "Don Juan" story was taken up by scores of past writers, including Moliere. I even tell a bit about another version of the opera 'Don Juan" by another composer named Gaetano Gazzaniga, which is much shorter than the Mozart opera version counterpart.

I focus also on some of the ossia passages (edits of what Liszt would have done in the score to make the passages less difficult) in the lecture.
